To make markets work for conservation and for communities, we need to mainstream progressive land management (ecoagriculture) approaches and compensation schemes that reward the stewardship of ecosystem services. Stronger linkages among and between communities are particularly needed to support the successful use of CCM approaches.
This Objective supports natural resource managers and other stakeholders to understand and implement ecoagriculture approaches and payments for ecosystem services through the facilitation of interactions and collaborative work between partners. A key component of this work is that these exchanges are happening across many different sectors – communities, investors, non-government and research institutions, governments, and the private sector – on a local, national, and international level
Our learning networks strengthen connections between these communities and focus on:
- supporting communities to develop knowledge by learning from each other and gaining access to information sources
- identifying and building capacity among innovators in ecoagriculture and PES in the countries where we work
- holding gatherings as a forum for sharing experiences and jointly overcoming obstacles
- providing updates on ecoagriculture and PES activities and tools to the network partners and to a wider audience
- developing a knowledge management platform via interactive newsletters and websites that encourage participation by network partners to exchange innovations in ecoagriculture and PES
